Some patrons note that peak dining hours can get hectic, occasionally affecting service speed during busy periods like Monday evenings. While the atmosphere remains inviting, a few diners have mentioned occasional delays in food service, particularly on packed Friday nights. A rare complaint involves menu items running out during busy lunch hours—especially bar snacks that quickly vanish due to popularity. Additionally, while the traditional decor suits many, a couple of visitors would prefer a more modern touch to match their tastes. Nevertheless, these minor snags do not overshadow the overwhelmingly positive experiences shared by most guests.
The White Lion at Llynclys near Oswestry is a fabulous find if you happen to be driving to North Wales for a holiday or just want a great pint or real ale. This is the fourth time we have stopped here just about halfway through our journey from Oxford. The pub is super clean including the toilets and including the gents, the floor was not awash with whatever and as for the food and beer!!!!! And all in for £28 for two. We only have light bites which is quite a meal in itself at lunchtime,… today we had scampi chips and peas and I had a nice pint of beer and my partner had a glass of pinot Grigio. Both were served at the ideal temperature we were sat down straight away with no quibble about having a tab. Service with a smile by one of the lads who actually recognise us for our trip in April. Pubs like this are very few and far between. Bright, welcoming, good food, thankfully no jukebox or one arm bandits to distract. I really recommend this as a stop over as it’s well frequented by the locals so they must know!
We ate here on way back from our wedding venue. The beer garden is gorgeous, the staff so friendly and the food was superb . We will definitely be back

Food was absolutely delicious. Table service was great and all the staff were lovely. Atmosphere was relaxed. Really cosy. Quick stop on the way back from a trip to Manchester and Blackpool. Thank you.

I was shocked! White Lion! Didn't say much when we stopped there. But, let me tell you, I was so wrong! I haven't tasted such a tasty food in a long time. That crispy pork belly was to die for. The portion was quite big and let me tell you, I couldn't get enough of it! Just perfect! Everything from cleaned toilets, atmosphere, service, and food was just perfect. I was blown away. Please do go there if you ever have the chance!
Called in for Sunday lunch, all staff friendly and welcoming. Very quick service, excellent food could not fault anything. Nothing was too much trouble, would throughly recommend and will be returning soon.
